Track of the Day: The O'Jay's- Livin For The Weekend

IS JESUS CHRIST YA N*GGA?

One of my best friends is white. He loves hip hop. Seeing him rap a song and self edit the "N - word" out of the songs is unintentional comedy!  Seeing a post in which a group of white people rap about jesus and use the "N - word" is a little scary. I've always been told  to never call "Christ" out of his name and not playing with the lord. Then again maybe he will appreciate just being called at all.

Track of the Day

Yo, so much can happen in a day. From the moment that you wake up to the moment you lay you head down to rest you are given time to do whatever (yeh, I said whatever!) you want with your life. Some of us choose to keep it safe, just using those hours to "get by", others use their God given time to get the most out of each second, minute and hour of that day while others try to find a median between the two. I wonder how much would really change if someone were faced with the question, "If you had 24 hours to live, what would you do?" How do you react to that? What's your first move? So many things to do in a relatively short amount. It could definitely put a lot of things in perspective. That really is some deep sh*t right there... ~RH

Track of the Day: Mase - 24 Hrs. To Live feat. Black Rob, Dmx & The LOX, 1997
*Special thanks to D-Dot for the sample from "Moses" cut on "The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh" OST. Great 70's flick which starred Sixer legend, Dr. J.

Track of the Day

So, I'm watching the 2013 BET Awards and 2 Chainz is doing his set. I'm paying it no mind until I hear the beat drop for this song, I hear Pharrell's signature voice, I hear 2 Chainz flowing over the beat and I immediately know that this song is a problem. I couldn't stop nodding my head to what my ears were hearing. I even legally downloaded the single from iTunes! You can knock 2 Chainz all you want, but this song is dope. He drops some bars in this jawn that may be corny to some, but are definitely catchy to me. A great club track, something to play to get the night started or to just ride around trying to find a happy hour that pops after work. I hope this single does well because it has the all components to so. ~RH

TLC - THE MOVIE

TLC was one of my favorite groups for a while. I still know most of their songs by heart which is a feat considering I'm a man. They made female groups cool with their style, songs, and content. Sadly, one of their groups most popular members, Left Eye, tragically past away in a car crash. The group hasn't been the same since. VH1 will be releasing a film commemorating the groups rise to fame. The cast , shown below have huge shoes to fill. Let's hope that they aren't "Scrubs."

DANA PERINO AKA DANA P

I'm a huge fan of Jay Z. Not so shockingly, I'm a fan of his new album, Magna Carter Holy Grail. I'm starting to think that he has nothing on his new rival, Fox News anchor Dana Perino. See for yourself! Maybe she'll end up on one of his remixes.

THEY SHOOTING - LITERALLY AT THE STAGE

While on stage the young man above was shot. Writing it is sad. Watching it is maddening. See for yourself below. Big was right, you really are no one until someone kills you.

SHOW ME THE REAL MONEY

"Mo Money Mo Problems." Famous words uttered by Biggie Smalls that still hold true today. Business Week looked into the finances of some of the rap games biggest stars to see who was telling the truth about the amount of benjamin's they have in the banks. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't.

NEW MUSIC: DEAD PRESIDENTS 3

Dead Presidents is my favorite Jay Z song and arguably his best lyrical work of art. Lucky us, he was kind enough (by way of his engineer GURU) to release an updated version of the classic. This is one song we can all proudly have represent us!

A POLITICAL VIEW WE CAN ALL AGREE ON

Politics can be a sticky subject. Money, class, and race often clouds the argument. Let's take a break from the hostilities and enjoy the President as he performs "kinda" Daft Punk's new song, "Get Lucky".

THINK BIG

Getting caught up in the day to day stresses of life is easy. Seeing the big picture and what you really want is the challenge. Good look with that and keep up the good fight. Frustration has a punch that hits harder than Mike Tyson in his prime.

IF

Sometimes you just wake up, wanna hear some Janet Jackson and wait for the beat to breakdown so you can watch her break it down.
That is all!

COLOR INSIDE THE LINES

One of the few awards my mom has left from my glorious run in middle school is a picture I colored right before Easter vacation in the 7th grade. She displays it as if I won the NBA Rookie of the Year or a new artist Grammy. Houston rapper and hip hop icon Bun B has me itching to pull out my 8 count box of  Crayola crayons with his new collection of hip hop coloring books. The moment we have all been waiting for:  we can make our favorite, or least favorite artist, have the style that we all think they should have.

PRANCE WIT PRIDE

Prancercise® is defined as: A springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse’s gait and ideally induced by elation.

Let's just say its not as exciting as twerking. Dance fads come and go: running man, cabbage patch, & the macerna immediately come to mind. In this case, an odd looking woman, in tight close, and not so straight teeth, is leading the pack. Check out Joanna Rohrbck as "Prancercise's" to John Mayer new lead single.
