I do like Tom Petty!

What do you get when you take a black kid from North Philly and a half white/half Arab/part bear man and take them to a Tom Petty concert? A few felonies, fun, drunk stories, and a life time of memories. See last summer, my good friend Joel, whose father is American and mother is Arab, asked our mixed group of friends if one of us would like to go to a Tom Petty concert. It seemed that he had an extra ticket. I had just tried roast beef for the first time in my life and decided to try and go two for two in new experiences. So I went. Lo and behold, I knew way too many Tom Petty songs. I think I watched Wonder Years a little too much.

This all makes me feel bad for Oasis' Noel Gallagher.

In short, Jay-Z recently headlined the Glastonbury Festival.

Before the event, Gallagher said: "If it ain't broke don't fix it." "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance." "Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go Kylie Minogue?" "I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

It was the organizer's daughter that suggested Jay-Z to be the headliner for the show.

There were 100,000 tickets sold for Glastonbury on the first day but in past years all tickets had sold out in a matter of hours.

In the end, the controversy, the famous rapper, and the tradition of the event helped create a heavy weight fight type build up.

Jay Z won out and showed that music may be an "American girl."

P.S You gotta read how I pulled that story together from start to finish. Sometimes I hate myself. :)

Here is a video recap of the events:

The event organizer, Michael Eavis, explains why Jay Z was selected to headline interview Glastonbury 08

The night before the festival, Jay Z appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, a popular late night talk show!
