Track of the Day

Came across this track while I was getting dressed today and it felt fitting to share with you. Yesterday, myself and some fellow 31 Percenters were discussing MC's and who were the "best dressed". Silly to discuss you say? Maybe so, but real niggas talk about real things. Plus "Belly" was on which probably sparked the discussion. Anyway, we made it more specific by just focusing on top 5 stylish MCs from NYC. It definitely wasn't the easiest list to come up with, but we came up (in no particular order) Nas, Fabolous, Run-DMC, Fat Joe and Raekwon. Each was added to the list for their own personal style and attention to not looking nutty when going out into public. I had no reservations on these MCs, but when I mentioned Ghostface aka "Pretty Tone", aka "Wally Champ", aka "Tony Starks", aka "Starky Love", I was looked at like I had committed a cardinal sin! Why though? How do you leave a man who has a solid gold eagle ornament that's the size of an actual eagle on his wrist off this list? It was all gold! Can we give him some points on that at least? He wears over sized robes with his name embroidered on the back. He's classy to wear a robe at time when many keep it in a towel and paying attention to the importance of detail by putting his name on the robe. I ain't mad it him! Anyway, I could continue on about how "fashion forward" Wu-Tang's "Iron Man" is, but I could be here all day. Either way, he'll rest at a solid #6 on my list of "stylish and best dressed" MCs from NYC. I think he'd find it rather fitting, no pun intended.

Track of the Day

"Stay blessed my nigga, blessed my nigga
Really think about it, could be worse my nigga
Don't stress my nigga, yes my nigga
We all blessed my nigga..."

Something to keep in mind.
Schoolboy Q and K.Dot put together an honest track that you have to respect when compared to what you hear today. "Put a little faith in it and realized we're all...blessed."

Track of the Day

Monday mornings are never easy to wake up to for the "workin man". I keep my iTunes on shuffle in the a.m. with hopes that it'll play something that'll get me in the mood to start the work week off right. When I hear classic Nas like "life's a bitch" or "the world is yours" it gives me a youthful feeling. It's nostalgic and ultimately brightens up my day somehow. With the vintage jazz piano sample, Pete Rock on the hook and Nas' effortless flow and lyrics this song gave me some energy and a reason to not walk into the office today feeling like a mummy.

Ps: Try to keep the thought that the world is yours in your mind. Watch how practicing positive thinking can change your outlook on "your world".

Track of the Day

Yo, so much can happen in a day. From the moment that you wake up to the moment you lay you head down to rest you are given time to do whatever (yeh, I said whatever!) you want with your life. Some of us choose to keep it safe, just using those hours to "get by", others use their God given time to get the most out of each second, minute and hour of that day while others try to find a median between the two. I wonder how much would really change if someone were faced with the question, "If you had 24 hours to live, what would you do?" How do you react to that? What's your first move? So many things to do in a relatively short amount. It could definitely put a lot of things in perspective. That really is some deep sh*t right there... ~RH

Track of the Day

So, I'm watching the 2013 BET Awards and 2 Chainz is doing his set. I'm paying it no mind until I hear the beat drop for this song, I hear Pharrell's signature voice, I hear 2 Chainz flowing over the beat and I immediately know that this song is a problem. I couldn't stop nodding my head to what my ears were hearing. I even legally downloaded the single from iTunes! You can knock 2 Chainz all you want, but this song is dope. He drops some bars in this jawn that may be corny to some, but are definitely catchy to me. A great club track, something to play to get the night started or to just ride around trying to find a happy hour that pops after work. I hope this single does well because it has the all components to so. ~RH

Track of the Day

"What's your addiction? Is it money? Is it girls? Is it weed?..." The ease and effortlessness that it takes to become addicted to anything is something to pay close attention to. If you don't no matter how good it feels, too much of "it" could end up being bad for you...So, "What's you addiction? ~RH
